Welcome to the world of flyLAT and lukeAirTool. These two projects have been a labor of love, dedication, and relentless hard work for the past four years. Starting with no knowledge of coding, I (Luke) have spent countless hours learning, experimenting, and building to bring these applications to life.
Today, I am proud to say that flyLAT and lukeAirTool have over 80,000 users, with half a million flights registered on lukeAirTool and 20,000 flights registered on flyLAT. We have also reached nearly 2,000 registered virtual airlines. These milestones were achieved with the sheer determination and the support of a two-man team, working tirelessly without financial compensation.
Advertising on flyLAT serves have two primary purposes:
1. Support Server Costs: We aim to keep costs low for our users. Only virtual airline owners pay, while pilots fly for free. Advertising revenue helps cover server expenses and maintain this structure.
2. Support Other Developers: We believe in giving back by driving traffic to the products of fellow developers, helping their projects gain visibility and success.
When I started Heron Digital LTD, my first project was LukeAirTool. This was started because a friend of mine wanted some form of announcements soundboard for MSFS when it was released. I made a simple app which has blown up over night. Now I struggled at first as I did not know how to code. I started learning from YouTube and tutorials online. Fast forward to today, I think I have achieved a lot in such a short time. I am not stopping there, I always wanted to make a virtual company system. I am a big fan of tycoon games but there is always something missing and they get boring after a while.
This is why I wanted to make flyLAT. I want to make flyLAT the unltimate sandbox for my community by bringing features that no other addon can provide and allow my users to do what ever they want in the app. There is no end goal but progression. We will keep expanding the application with new features and modes. flyLAT is not going to be just for Flight Simulators. Watch this space...
Always wanted my own developing studio, work for my self without the middle man. This is my ultimate goal. Profits made from Heron Digital products will be reinvested back into future projects. I am not here for the short run. I am here to make a successful business.
Over £3,000 of my own money was invested to get these projects off the ground. I have commited nearly 5 years into both projects.
Invested over 20 hours during weekday and 10 hours on the weekend, sometimes sleepless Saturday nights, to ensure progress. Even though I have a full time job. At that time I was a London Bus driver doing various of shifts which was very difficult to work on my projects.
Overtime I have progressed in my job allowing me more time to develop more.
flyLAT is a project driven by the community, evolving and growing on a weekly basis. AirTool will be joining this structure in 2025.
